I had some piano pieces and some guitar pieces I thought worthy of release, but not enough of either to fill an entire LP. So, the decision was made to marry the two as a single entity. It seemed logical considering that piano and guitar are technically 'string' instruments (although in some circles a piano is considered percussion due to the striking of a mallet onto the string).
The guitar pieces didn't really hold my interest as self-contained works, so I began experimenting with looping, layering and adding effects into the mix. Some of the results crossed over into what is considered 'ambient' music, whereby the guitar itself becomes indistinguishable from its surrounding sounds. But the goal remained the same, to produce sounds that are as aesthetically pleasing as they are emotion-provoking (or sleep inducing).
